We currently have 28 horses and ponies divided into small herds, mainly at our site in Lytchett Matravers. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer some of your time, stating the day/s you would be available. No formal qualifications are necessary - anybody with an interest in horses is welcome to join us.

People who do voluntary work for the Sanctuary on a regular basis have the option to sponsor their favourite horse or pony. If a volunteer donates an agreed amount per month to the Sanctuary they can have access to that horse at any time (to include riding if applicable).

Feed and check condition of horses and ponies in the morning/evening
Collect empty feed buckets from fields
Top up water containers
Clean feed buckets
Poo picking in fields
Clean grooming kits
Groom horses and ponies

Check condition and security of fencing
Adjust and repair fencing as necessary
Harrow fields
Remove manure piles

Would you prefer to help with fundraising? As the Sanctuary does not receive any outside funding the only way it can survive is through donations and fund raising events.

We will happily put links on our Thank You page to any organisation which raises funds or makes a donation.

Perhaps you might like to run a stall at a local fete or car boot sale, or organise an event at your local pub/club/society and donate the proceeds?
If you might have somewhere suitable for a Happy Horses Sanctuary & Rescue collection box - for example the reception desk at work, a shop or the local hostelry - we really value these contributions.
